Notes for JOESPH E. EISENHUER: From the 1840's to the 1880's, 4 million germans came to America to escape depression, political unrest and unemployment. 1993, I know nothing yet about this man except his name. He was in the Sacred Heart death/funeral book as the father of George Jacob, I have collected a bit of information which I'll include here. The 1741 immigrant ancestor of Pres. Dwight D. Eisenhower through Peter. Another record states, Peter Eisenhauer, born in Germany 1716, came to America about 1751. Hd a son Frederich, who had son jacob Frederich, who had son David Jacob, who had son David Dwight. This was taken from Taylor-Richardson, F. B. Eisenhower Lineage & References. 1956. According to what I have read, Dwight's family changed the spelling of their last name to an Americanized spelling about World War time, due to the antagonism toward Germans. Eisenhauers had come to America since quite early and they can be found many places. Per Ron Flauaus, Mechanicsburg, Pa. phone call of Mar 7 1992 ( he had wanted information on Henry Horn, who married Mary Flauaus, Henry was a catholic, banker and businessman of early DuQuoin) Ron told me that Mary was the daughter of Yohan Flauaus who is buried inAshlye, Il cemetery, Yohna's father was born 1762 in Lomperthein, Germany. I don't believe there's any connection. Time will possibly tell, Nov 1994. I know much more now.
Joseph E. Eisenhauer was located in the state of Bayern, County of Pfalz, town of Birkenhoerdt, and a Roman Catholic, father of ten children, who were born between 1819 and 1841. Who knows, I may even find out much more inthe Mormon records. As of now, I believe he had a brother John, married to Catharinae Engel, who was in the same location, having children 1828 to 1847. Our Joseph named a son John in 1826. Our Joseph named son Balthassar in 1824 and the presumed brother named a son the same unusual name in 1830.

Marriage note: Witnesses to Adam and Catharine`s marriage were Jacob & wife Anna Maria, church marriage performed Dec. 27, 1883. They had been married in a civil ceremony in 1868. HUSBAND--Adam John Eisenhauer: Individual note: The name is Joannes Adamus in the record. Since that is Latin the name would be John Adam. I think these old timers changed first and middle names around to suit themselfs. Adam livied across the railroad, south of Matthews. In courthouse records, his mother`s name is given as Catherine, other records say Margaretha. Karl told the story of Adam. Adam was in the German army and one of his duties was to clean the horses hooves after they came in from the parade ground. As he was cleaning one horse, it kicked at him and instinctivly he flung out his arm, stabbing the horse fatally. Knowing he would probably be hung for this, he deserted from the army and came to America. I do not know if all of the men came then. There is more which needs to be researched. (Found later, Jan.11 1997) According to a interview with Adam`s son George of Vergennes--"Adam came to the United States some time after George Jacob. Adam had to finish a term in the army. He served pme ter, amd then a rich family hired him to take their son`s place. Adam resented the rich for being able to buy their way out of the army. When he came to the U.S. he landed in New York, just as his brother George Jacob had before him.
