Elizabeth Jones Williams passed way on April 4, 2012 at the age of 91. She was born in Barkers Creek, Jackson County, North Carolina in June 19, 1920. She was the daughter of the late William A. Jones and Augusta Jones, She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Arnold Williams, six brothers three sisters and children Hamlin and Betty Sue.
She is survived by her son Bill and his wife Susan of Cornelius, North Carolina, daughter, Martha Misenheimer and her husband Bob of Lincolnton, North Carolina, her sister, Edna of Sylva, North Carolina, daughter-in-law, Betty Jane White of Olin, North Carolina, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Williams left the mountains of Western North Carolina during World War II and supported the war effort in the aircraft plants of Detroit before returning to her beloved mountains at the end of the war. She married Arnold Williams on June 14, 1947 and was happily married until his death in October 2005. She was a beloved Mother both to her own children and all of the children in the neighborhood. She took an active role in community affairs and was active in Democrat politics for years.
Until she was no longer able to attend, Mrs. William was an active member of St. Timothy's United Methodist Church, Brevard, North Carolina.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Moore Funeral Home with Rev. Karen Easter officiating. The family will receive friends at Moore Funeral Home Friday evening from :00 - 8:00 PM.
Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory.
