Irene Clontz Jenkins, 92, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Silver Bluff Village Nursing Home.
Irene was a native of Haywood County and the daughter of the late John Wesley Clontz and Arnissa Moore Clontz, and her husband John Jenkins who died in 1996. She was a faithful member of Dutch Cove Baptist Church since 1945. She also delivered for Meals on Wheels until she was 89 years old. She was a loving Christian who cared for her family and church community. The family extends special thanks to her special niece, Sue Trull and to the staff of Silver Bluff.
Irene is survived by her son, Ed Jenkins and his wife Gloria of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; a sister, Geraldine Clontz Williams of Canton; two granddaughters, Gina Jenkins Jordan and her husband Chris of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Jolie Jenkins Earp and her husband Jeff of Maggie Valley, and two great-grandchildren, John William Jordan and Jack Christopher Jordan.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm at Dutch Cove Baptist Church with the Reverend Jason Miller officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Burial will follow the funeral service at Crawford Ray Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Morning Star Church cemetery fund.
