Howard Showalter, 84, Springfield, MO departed this life Thursday, October 27, 2011. He was born December 12, 1926 at Harrisonville, MO to Paul and Stella (Sechrest) Showalter.
Howard was a US Navy Veteran and worked as a mail handler for the K.C. Terminal Railroad.
He also enjoyed music, playing many instruments such as guitar, harmonica and mandolin, he also was a hamm radio operator, boy scout leader and loved to travel.
Howard was a member of Orchard Crest Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
Survivors include his wife F. Darlene Showalter, two children, Clifford "Cliff" Showalter and wife Jane of Fayetteville, AR, Curtis "Curt" Showalter and wife Becky of Lincoln, NE, five grandchildren, Amanda, Michael, Kara, Matthew and Jarod, his great grandson Beckett, two sisters, Cathern Smith and Daisy Roker, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday Nov. 5, 2011 in Orchard Crest Baptist Church with Pastor Travis Edwards officiating. Committal services with military honors will be at 9 a.m. Monday Nov. 7, 2011 in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Published in the News-Leader on October 30, 2011.
