Roy Duran, age 72, of Decatur passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at a local healthcare facility. He was a member of the Peerless Road Church of God of Prophecy and part of the Senior?s Ministry. He loved the Lord, loved to read his Bible, loved to sing and play southern gospel music on his guitar. He will be greatly missed.
He is predeceased by his parents, Clement and Sarah Duran; brothers, Eugene Duran, Jimmy Duran, Zane Duran, Clarence Duran; sister, Clarise Cartrwright.
He is survived by his sister, Opal Shannon; sister-in-law, Lorraine Duran; nieces, Ann York, Carolyn Hass, Carlene Palmer, Lisa Harris, Donna Foote, and Jeanelle Shannon; special friends, Laquatta Long, Kathy Wise, and Mr.& Mrs. Andrew Wilson.
Vistation will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 from 10:00 am- 12:00 pm at Serenity Grissom Funeral Home and Cremation Center. A Funeral Service will follow the vistation in the chapel of the funeral home at 12:00 pm with Reverend Adam Jones and Reverend Davd W. Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Grasshopper Road Church of God Cemetery with Reverend Vernon Van DeVenter officiating and Kenneth Nope, David Riggs, Joseph Bathe, Perry Horner, Luis Villanueva, and Frank Shroyer serving as pallbearers.
