- DEATH: Betty Knapp
Betty F. Knapp, 79, passed away Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009.
Betty was born in Mobile, Ala., on May 25, 1930. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Dr. C.S. Knapp; son, Victor “Buddy” Knapp; and brother, Joseph Fendley Jr.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Johnston, of Wildwood, Ga., and Judy (Claude) Petty, of Hixson; seven grandchildren, Geni Brownfield, Scott Adair, Charles Burnette, Marty Burnette, Joy Clemons, Jennifer Ward and Andrew Knapp; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean (Roland) Jones, of Lillian, Ala. and Lillian Mayton of Mobile, Ala.
Betty was former Vice President of Kay’s Ice Cream Inc. in Chattanooga and was employed there from 1968-1977. She was employed by Tennessee Hotel Supply Co. (THS Food Service) as office manager from 1979 until her retirement in 1995. After retirement she continued to be employed by the THS Food Service on a consulting basis until her death.
Betty was a member of South Seminole Baptist Church at her death. Her husband, Dr. C.S. Knapp, had served this congregation as pastor from 1968-1976.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at South Seminole Baptist Church with Dr. Ron Perry officiating. Also participating will be the Rev. Herman Parker, pastor of First Baptist Church, Bremen, Ga.
Interment will follow in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
Gifts in memory may be made to South Seminole Baptist Church, the Gideons or Hospice of Chattanooga.
