Mrs. Koetkemeyer Has Sudden Death
Acute Heart Attack Ends Life of An Esteemed Woman, Wife of Leading Auto Dealer
Mrs. Celestine Koetkemeyer passed away at four o'clock Tuesday morning at her home on Ludlow street, following an illness of several years. Her death came quite suddenly due to a heart attack.
She was born in Lawrenceburg Sept. 23, 1890, the daughter of Charles and Louise Schleicher Kepper. She was twice married - first to Mr. John McCullough, owner of the McCullough Drug Company, wholesalers, on High street. Following Mr. McCullough's death in 1927, she continued to operate the drug business, up to the time of the destructive flood in January, 1937.
In 1935, she was married to Mr. George Koetkemeyer, widely known business man and proprietor of the Koetkemeyer Motor Co., in Newtown.
Mrs. Koetkemeyer, in frail health, received quite a shock when she learned of the death of her sister, Mrs. Gertrude Klepper, who passed away April 12.
Mrs. Koetkemeyer was an active and zealous member of the Beecher Presbyterian Church. She was for a number of years president of the Ladies Aid Society and up to the time of her impaired health and contribution to every movement for church and community welfare. She had many friends and admirers to whom her death brings great sorrow.
Survivors are her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Louise McCullough Britton; two brothers, Earl Kepper of Indianapolis and Carlos Kepper of Lawrenceburg and two sisters, Mrs. Lelia T. Fitch of Lawrenceburg and Mrs. Sarah Ruppert of Dayton, Ohio.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. Roby Oldham of Washington Court House, Ohio former pastor of the Beecher Presbyterian Church, at the residence on Ludlow street, yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial was in Greendale cemetery with Fitch Bros. in charge.
