Franklin
Garl B. Holder, 70, of Cowee Community of Franklin, formerly of Stecoah, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005, at his residence after a period of declining health.
He was a native of Graham County and the son of the late John Barry and Flara Jenkins Holder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Holder; grandson, Nathan Bradshaw; brother, Gayle Holder; and sister, Gladys Lequire.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He retired from the maintenance department of the National Park Service after many years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Lanane Jones Holder; sons and their wives, Gary and Sheena Holder of Franklin, James M. and Debra Brooks of Ramseur; daughters and their husbands, Cindy and Dwight Bradshaw, Connie and Rocky Sampson, all of Stecoah, Tammy Brooks-Neu and her husband, Russell of Franklin; sisters, Edna Cable, Beryl Cable and Grethan Cable, all of Stecoah; and brother-in-law and his wife, Jack and Pat Jenkins of Bryson City. He has nine grandchildren, Dennis, Kaila, Cameron, Andrew, Austin, April, Jeremy and his wife, Nichole, Israel; and two great-grandchildren, Zoe and Faith; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Townson-Smith Chapel. The Rev. Delmar Holder will officiate. Burial will be in Holder Cemetery
