SAMUEL ROBERT PATTERSON JR. BRYSON CITY - Samuel Robert Patterson Jr., 75, of Candler, formerly of Swain County, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, in a Buncombe County hospital. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Samuel Robert Patterson Sr. and Lady Lilas Justice Patterson and the husband of the late Mary Ethel Hyde Patterson, who died Feb. 19, 2003. He was a Marine Corp veteran of World War II and was retired from construction work. He was also preceded in death by a son, Samuel Robert Patterson III. He is survived by a son, Harold Lee Patterson and his wife, Jessie, of Kings Port, Tenn., and a daughter, Martha Patterson Hughes and her husband, Thomas, of Roswell, Ga.
